Tresses by Sisters

“Tresses By Sisters” is an up and coming, determined and striving Hair Company by Whitnie and Jasmine Dunston. Whitnie and Jasmine are sisters that are 16 months apart in age, who are mainly glued to the hip and sometimes mistaken to be twins. As young girls, Whitnie and Jasmine grew up in Fremont CA, but now reside in Nashville, TN. Some of the traditional activities and practices their family member engaged in were basketball, tennis, softball, swimming, but their favorite was playing with one another's hair.



Even though they share a lot of the same characteristics, they have very different career paths. Whitnie is a recent college graduate from Howard University with a B.S. in Human Performance Concentration in Sports Medicine. In the Fall she plans to attend a Nursing school to become a Nurse Practitioner. Jasmine is a recent college graduate from Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Political Science Pre-Law. In the Fall of 2012 she plans to attend Law School to become an Entertainment Lawyer.



As both the sisters are taking a year off from school, they plan to devote their time and energy to “Tresses By Sisters.” Their “Tresses by Sisters” motivation comes from both of their parents Shawon and Tracie Dunston who have been the biggest influence on why they wanted to start their own business. Shawon and Tracie are two different people with different personalities yet together they impact, create and form a strong force, backbone and family. Their mother Tracie is a woman of God, courage, ambition, compassion, hard work, integrity and intelligence; which she has instilled into their characters and morals. Her Godly traits as a Christian, wife, mother and friend; they value highly and try to imitate through their daily trials and tribulations.  Seeing their mother throughout her daily chores, errands, tasks, and community work; she always finds time to balance and mold her children into the best young ladies and gentlemen.



Their father Shawon Dunston has inspired them to not only follow their dreams but to be the best in whatever they put their minds too. Their father’s key and motto to being successful in life is, "you must always give 110%, and remember that there are no short cuts to success." From precious experiences, their father always relates and compares sports to reality. He bases life struggles and triumphs in four basic elements; integrity, effort, perseverance and responsibility. Their father always elucidated that failure brings humbleness; and it is not how you start the race but it is how you finish. His passion, determination and dedication to becoming a better husband, father and friend everyday encourages Whitnie and Jasmine to become better daughters, young ladies, leaders and role-models.



Whitnie and Jasmine are dedicated and committed women with Christian values that possess many vital skills; teamwork, communication, reliability and the ability to meet strict deadlines. Their love, loyalty, responsibility, compassion, integrity, service and dedication are their unrelenting forces that drives them to continue to provide 100% customer service.
